A word of caution

Your newspaper’s reports on the Board of Education and Teacher Rep. Ambrose Bennett’s situation are quite interesting. For the past few months the spokesman of the PSS BOE has been Mr. Roman Benavente. All of a sudden, because of the possibility that Mr. Bennett might have possible slander, discrimination, harassment, and 1st Amendment free speech grounds for suing the board, the members of the board become silent, and the other non-voting representative becomes the spokesman. Perhaps, Mr. Scott Norman has struck a deal with the board. He will be in the limelight, the least vulnerable member of the board, and continue the onslaught against Mr. Bennett if BOE increases funding and support for private schools. Unfortunately, Mr. Norman is a member of the board and as such may be party to Mr. Bennett’s suit. His day in court is coming…and BOE will get what it deserves. I am not particularly fond of Mr. Bennett. He does have some personality flaws, but he is honest, straightforward and has the intestinal fortitude to stand up against ignorance and indifference. Mr. Norman ought to take a step back and pause to re-evaluate whether his position on the board and his speaking for the others who are silent for fear of being sued is precarious as well.
