Close to 600 passengers and personnel of MV Pacific Princess will be spending a day on Saipan tomorrow, according to Pacific Development, Inc. public relations and marketing manager Gordon Marciano.

The cruise liner is scheduled to reach the shores of Saipan at 8am but would have to leave on the same day at 5pm. Marciano said PDI has arranged the itinerary for the visitors with the Marianas Visitors Authority, American Memorial Park, and other government offices like the Military and Veterans Affairs office and the Historic Preservation Office.

“HPO and MVA will be on site at the pier to welcome the ship,” he said.

Marciano said as the land operator, PDI will be providing shuttle services and sightseeing tour schedule for the visiting guests.

Saipan Shipping Company Inc. is the MV Pacific Princess’ agent. He said the local company has done an excellent job in the preparation and collaboration with the Commonwealth Ports Authority to secure the port for the ship’s arrival.

Marciano also said there are approximately 10 veterans on board of the ship who fought on Saipan and Tinian during World War II. He said the veterans would be receiving their certificates and medals during a recognition ceremony tomorrow at 9am at the American Memorial Park Court of Honor.

The Military and Veterans Affairs office led by executive officer Ruth Coleman is inviting the public to witness and pay tribute to the recognition of the visiting veterans who fought for freedom and liberation on Saipan and Tinian.
