OPA’s Wilma Atalig makes it to NMC President’s List and National Dean’s List
Office of the Public Auditor administrative assistant Wilma Atalig was recently placed on the President’s List of superior students at the Northern Marianas College for receiving a 4.0 during the Fall Semester 2004.
As NMC President Antonio V. Deleon Guerrero stated in his letter to her, “Without doubt it required self-discipline and hard work on your part.”
In addition, Atalig was selected to have her biography published in the 28th annual edition of The National Dean’s List. This honor makes her automatically eligible to compete for a $1000 scholarship. Only one-half of one percent of the nations’ college students receives this honor.
Atalig has been with the OPA for more than a year and a half. In addition to the numerous duties shared with the administrative staff, Atalig has been tasked with preparing and administering travel-related documents (i.e., travel authorizations and vouchers) and procurement-related documents (i.e., purchase orders and requisitions, memo payments, and obtaining quotes for purchases of equipment) for the office. Moreover, she will soon undergo information technology training in preparation for her additional responsibilities as a back-up Systems Specialist.
OPA said that Atalig not only performs all of her duties with a great competence, she takes great initiative. To illustrate, she converted many of the standard government forms to computerized versions that are immediately accessible to everyone in the office. She also developed a key control system to monitor and control access to the three buildings currently being occupied by OPA. OPA congratulates Atalig on her superior achievements.
Although Atalig enjoys her current responsibilities, she is determined to advance her professional career and has expressed great interest in the OPA Intern Program. Public Auditor Michael Sablan believes she has great potential to become an analyst at OPA or to do anything else she chooses. (PR)
