Sports Camp opens doors
With its Day Camp sessions already in the books, the Youth Services and Sports and Recreation divisions of the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs opened the doors for its annual Sports Camp yesterday at the Oleai Sports Complex.
Some 250 youths between the ages of 6 to 12 years engaged in sports activities such as basketball, tee ball, golf, and soccer.
“Everything went good,” said coordinator Joey Dela Cruz. “We didn’t expect all the kids to show up [yesterday] because of Father’s Day weekend, but a lot of them showed up and were every cooperative. As I observed the different sports stations, the kids were very responsive to the instructors’ teachings.”
Dela Cruz, the mentioned sports will be focused on every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Activities on Tuesdays and Thursdays include volleyball, tee ball, athletics, and golf.
Sports Camp runs for two weeks, concluding on July 1.
Daily sessions for both camps begins at 7:30am and concludes at 11:30am.
The camp focuses on providing a positive venue for the youths to engage in healthy and creative activities while promoting the importance of physical fitness and building relationships.
The Day and Sports camps are also sponsored by the Saipan Mayor’s Office and the Commonwealth Council for Arts and Culture.
