Kidnapping, false arrest charges filed

The Attorney General’s Office yesterday charged a person with kidnapping in a criminal case it filed with the Superior Court.

The AGO charged 30-yrear-old Miah Mohammad Jabangir. The criminal information did not specify the defendant’s gender or the female victim’s name.

The charges against the defendant include kidnapping, assault and battery, disturbing the peace and false arrest.

Deputy Attorney General Clyde Lemons Jr. accused the defendant of assaulting a woman and unlawfully confining her within an unspecified place for a substantial period of time to inflict injury or terrorize her.

Lemons said the defendant unlawfully detained the woman by force against her will.
