Five beautiful young girls will vie for the 2005 Little Miss Marianas pageant set for tonight.
Angelica Samson Roman, 7; Kaylyn S. Celis 8; Riselle Iris Capino Long 7; Aldreen T. Adriano 9; and Malena M. Hofschneider, 8 will showcase their talents, skills, and beauty beginning 6pm at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe.

The candidates have been busy for a month as pageant organizer Stellar Marianas exposed the little beauties to different community events on Saipan.

Activities they took part on included the Liberation Day kick off, where the young misses staged a fashion show.

The candidates also visited the Man’amko Center and entertained the island’s elderly learned and then how to make mwars. They also spent time reading for pre-schoolers at the Seventh Day Adventist School in San Jose.

Roman earlier said she joined the Little Miss Marianas 2005 to enhance her self-confidence and determination.

Stellar’s president Laila Y. Boyer earlier said the prizes at stake for this year’s top winner include $300, a crown, a sash, a trophy, one-year hair and make-up, gifts from Ponds, Suave and Dove, an official portfolio, and a year of fun events and activities.

Tonight will also see 2004 Little Miss CNMI Hope Gomez finally relinquishing her crown to the next deserving little queen. Gomez earlier advised the five little candidates not to be scared and just be themselves. She said she would not forget the experience the pageant had provided her.

Gomez, who wooed the judges last year, could still remember the question she was asked during pageant night. She said her answer to the question of what she would do after winning the pageant was to create a pen pal club so that she could reach out to other people of different cultures in the world.

The pageant would be divided into four categories: Fantasy costumes, talent portion, evening gown, and the question-and-answer portion.

Anna Glushko of Glushko Academy would be the pageant’s choreographer while 2004 Miss CNMI World Tracy Del Rosario and 2000 Miss NMI Universe Cherlyn Cabrera would be directing.
