EcoArts fest to unveil sculpture park
Now’s your chance to explore the artist in you and win up to $500.
The 2005 EcoArts Festival will be unveiling a sculpture park with the theme “Recycled Imagination” on July 30 as part of the three-day event.
To join, an entry must be:
* A minimum of four feet tall.
* Constructed primarily out of recycled or reused materials.
* Able to stand on its own.
There should be no electrical nor hazardous materials.
The sculpture park is open to all ages. Teams, limited to 10 members each, are also welcome.
Participants are invited to submit a short statement, not exceeding 150 words, about the significance of their entry to be attached to their artwork.
Entries will be judged based on:
* Originality
* Technical skill
* Use of reused/recycled materials.
* Adherence to the theme.
* Overall impression
Prizes are:
* $500 for 1st place
* $300 for 2nd place
* $200 for 3rd place
Registration forms are available at the Division of Environmental Quality at the ground floor of the Gualo Rai Center on Middle Road.
Deadline for submission of registration forms is on July 22, 2005.
All final artworks must be delivered to DEQ on July 27.
Unveiling of the sculpture park is scheduled for 1pm on July 30 at the American Memorial Park.
