Wonderful variety of art
Congratulations to the summer trainees of the Workforce Investment Agency for their work on the summer visual arts exhibit now showing at the Council for Arts and Culture, Capitol Hill.
The exhibit includes a wonderful variety of local art, which is also for sale. And thanks to the generosity of the Council, 100 percent of sale proceeds go directly to the artist, with no commission charged and no entrance fee.
More businesses on Saipan should take note of this support and make similar offers for displaying local art in lobbies and other areas open to the public. For those who have not yet seen the exhibit, note that it runs only during the month of July; exhibit hours are from 8am to 4pm, Monday through Friday.
A suggestion on future exhibits organized by trainees would be to include an opening reception, and to extend the exhibit hours one night a week so those who work full-time have a chance to see it.
Maybe the Council could seek help from adult volunteers, or even ask participating artists to donate some time. People who attend these exhibits would find the show even more enjoyable when they can also meet the artists.
