Former senator Ramon “Kumoi” S. Guerrero is endorsing the gubernatorial candidacy of Democratic Party’s Gov. Froilan C. Tenorio and Antonio Santos.

Guerrero made known his choice by attending and speaking at the party’s kick-off rally at Civic Center in Susupe last Sunday.

Guerrero, who just finished his $50,000 contract with the Governor’s Office and nearly $20,000 power contract with the Commonwealth Utilities Corp., said Tenorio-Santos “are better candidates.”

Guerrero said he believes that Tenorio, who served as governor from 1994 to 1998, “is the best person who can solve the fuel surcharge problem and rolling power outages.”

He said Tenorio is the man who can make quick decisions.

“I’m looking for a leader that has strong leadership. That’s the reason why I chose Tenorio. He does not need anybody to make decisions for him and I think he is the right person to do just that,” said Guerrero.

Further, he said that the Democratic Party was his first political party.

During the kick-off really, Guerrero told the party candidates “you’ll be seeing me from now on.”

“I am officially supporting them,” said the former senator.

Guerrero broke off from the Babauta administration after the termination of his contracts this month, expressing great disappointment at the Attorney General’s Office’ alleged refusal to approve his requisitions for the immediate purchase of parts for Power Plant engines.

He also accused the CUC and the administration of staging blackouts to justify privatization.

This was refuted by the administration, saying that Guerrero wanted to short cut procurement rules.

The administration said Guerrero’s claims were misleading and hinted of the latter’s political agenda.

The CUC hired Guerrero following Gov. Juan N. Babauta’s May 19 state of emergency declaration to review the CUC privatization of power plant 1 and to rehabilitate power plant 2.

Before this, Babauta hired Guerrero as engineering consultant for the La Fiesta complex in San Roque.
