ACT MEETING TODAY

Acting president of the Association of Commonwealth Teachers (ACT) James Yangetai is convening a meeting of teachers today, Aug. 10, 2005, 6:30pm, at the STaRPO (former Chalan Kanoa Headstart facility) Parent-Teacher Center, neighbor to Glory Market, Micronesia Legal Office, Korean Association of Saipan and Karidat building.

REGISTRATION OPENS FOR ANNUAL TEACHERS INSTITUTE

The NMI Council for the Humanities has announced the opening of registration for the 2005 Teachers Institute.

The Institute comprises six eight-hour sessions to be held on consecutive Saturdays from Aug. 27 to Oct. 1. It is intended to provide teachers with a thorough overview of the history of the Northern Mariana Islands from ancient times to present.

Registration forms and Institute schedule may be obtained at the Council’s office on the first floor of King’s Plaza in Dandan or from the Council’s website at http://cnmi.humanities.org.mp (under Council Projects/Teachers Institute). SVES GRADE SCHOOL PTA MEETINGS

In lieu of general PTA meeting to open the school year, the Teachers and Administration of SVES cordially invite parents to join us for a series of orientation meetings as follows:

Aug. 10: 2nd and 3rd grade parents at SVES campus;
Aug. 11: 4th and 5th grade parents at SVES campus; and
Aug. 16: 6th grade at SVES campus.

Please take this opportunity to get a more intimate introduction to your child’s teacher, school and general expectations of your child.

WSR OPEN HOUSE ON AUG. 16

The William S. Reyes Elementary School has scheduled its Open House on Aug. 16, Tuesday from 5pm to 7:30pm. Parents and guardians are requested to attend so they can visit their children’s teacher and learn more about the educational approach to Standard Based Teaching and Teaching to Mastery.

The event will start with a meeting with introduction of teachers for the 2005-2006 school year. WSR will also review the newly revised School Rules and School Policy.

HAPPENINGS AT HOPWOOD

Aug. 11: First PTSA meeting will be distributed to students. Present an overview of our language arts program.

Aug. 20: School Leadership, PTSA, and Parent Council Seminar at PIC, 8am-4pm. Participants will be contacted with more information.

MCS OPEN HOUSE ON AUG. 17

Mount Carmel School would be having an Open House on Aug. 17, Wednesday, from 6pm to 7:30pm.

The Open House follow the first day of classes this Thursday, Aug. 11, from 7:30am to 2:40pm.
