For shame!

I would like to express my utter disgust over a story (not the Saipan Tribune) on the Street Market transfer that brazenly used me as a source for the story.

I did not categorically state nor confirm with the reporter that we are transferring to the Coral Tree Lane. As one of the vendors of the Street Market, I do not have the prerogative to pre-empt the DCCA from issuing a statement regarding this matter, especially when a meeting has not yet been held to decide on relocation. Besides, I would not dare make such a statement in behalf of the DCCA and the rest of the vendors. We small entrepreneurs are just trying to make a decent living and we cannot in any way allow such fictitious claim by a reporter to tarnish our reputation or even damage the harmonious relationship we have with the DCCA.

In an attempt to get a scoop out of a customer-vendor conversation, the reporter went overboard in fabricating facts. I just hope that she and the rest of the reporters should never make hasty generalizations and even attempt to verify their facts before allowing their stories to see print.

May this letter see print so that my name will be cleared once and for all.
