After leading Team Pepsi to the heights of the triathlon ranks in Palau during the 2005 South Pacific Mini-Games last week, president of the Northern Marianas Islands Triathlon Federation will be packing up his gear and heading to the mainland for good.

To honor their leader, the members of the NMITF will be hosting an appreciation party for Samoyloff on Sunday, Aug. 14 at Obyan Beach at 12noon.

The NMITF will be supplying the meats and drinks and is asking its members to bring side dishes.

The event will also be a kick-off for the 2005/2006 membership drive, and NMITF memberships are available for $25. Aside fro joining the ranks of the Commonwealth’s multisport tribe, the membership also grants racers reduced entry fees to all NMITF events for the 2005/2006 year.

“Hope you all can come to wish Stephan and Deena all the best. You may wish to bring a mountain bike and running shoes as there is a very good chance a triathlon may break out,” said NMITF secretary and treasurer Mike Johnson. (Brad E. Ruszala)
