Police arrested three suspected robbers after a brief car chase from Middle Road to As Lito Saturday. Police said two of the suspects are juveniles.

Police detective George F. David yesterday charged 22-year-old Franklin M. Aldan, the alleged mastermind of the group, with robbery at the Superior Court.

Presiding Judge Robert Naraja affirmed that there was reason to believe that Aldan might have committed the offense, setting bail at $10,000.

No charge has been filed so far against the two juveniles. But David said in his affidavit submitted to the court that the two minors pointed to Aldan as the one who invited them to snatch someone’s purse.

David disclosed the victim’s identity as Jang Hyun-Young. Jang was reportedly standing in front of the Keeraku Restaurant to take her friend’s picture by the Louis Vuitton façade of the DFS Galleria when Aldan allegedly snatched her purse.

Police responded to the scene and learned from witnesses that the snatcher ran to a pickup truck that sped off. The victim also gave police a physical description of the robber.

Police cars patrolling the island then saw the vehicle, which was described by witnesses as red and had many dents, on Middle Road. The police gave chase as the truck headed south.

David said the three suspects were arrested after police intercepted the truck in As Lito. David’s affidavit did not say if the stolen purse and its undisclosed contents were recovered.
