UFO basketball league meeting today

United Filipino Organization will have a meeting today to discuss matters related to the 6th Inter-Organizational Basketball League.

The meeting will be held at 6pm, at the Filipino Community Center, ground floor of the Nauru Building.

Attendance is a must for all team representatives such as coaches or managers to discuss ground rules and league requirements. (PR)

Anniversary of Iraq deployment marked today

The Echo Company 100th Battalion 442nd Infantry Family Readiness Group is informing all families of local soldiers that there will be a Mass for the first year anniversary of the deployment of local soldiers slated today, Aug. 19, 2005, at 6pm, at the Kristo Rai Church, Garapan. Immediately following the Mass, a candle light vigil march will take place—7:15pm—from the Kristo Rai Church to Bank of Guam and then back.

A reminder to parents and guardians: Please do not drop off your students before 7:30am. There is no supervision on campus before 7:30am. All students are to be dropped off outside the gate. Only buses and staff vehicles may drive in the gates. For the safety of our students, please comply with this policy.

Free livestock workshops

The NMC-CREES will be conducting a free workshop on Saipan entitled “Common Livestock Health Problems in CNMI and Control Measures” on Aug. 29-31, 2005, 9am—4pm, at the NMC-CREES Conference Room, Saipan.

Presenters include livestock extension agent Dr. Allan Castro Sabaldica and CNMI Paravets Richard Maratita, Jeff Castro, Joe Randy Tudela, Joanne Moses, and Jack Guerrero.

The same workshop will be held on Rota on Sept. 1-2, 2005, from 9am to 4pm, at the NMC Rota Campus Tatachog. Presenters include Sabaldica and CNMI Paravets Mike Ogo, Wayne Aldan, and Manases Barcinas.

OES PTSA meeting

The PTSA officers and as well as the school administrator’s of Oleai Elementary School would like to inform the parents and guardians of Oleai Elementary School that the PTSA meeting scheduled on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005, has been rescheduled to Sept. 13, 2005.

The school administrators, teachers, and staff of OES will be attending PSS Professional Development Days on Aug. 18-19, 2005. Therefore, there will be no classes on these days.

Renew well operation permits by Aug. 31

The Division of Environmental Quality would like to remind all Well Operators that applications for Well Operation Permit renewal is due on Aug. 31, 2005. Please refer to section 12.2(c) of the Well Drilling and Well Operators Regulations for clarification.

DEQ would also like to remind well operators to perform routine water quality analysis. Well permit numbers 0051-0100 are due by July; permit numbers 0101-0150 are due by August; and permit numbers 0151-0200 are due by September.

Routine analysis should also include the following parameters: Chloride, Conductivity, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Hardness, Nitrate, ph, and Total Coliform.

Corporate Challenge on Oct. 2

It is not too early to sign up your company’ team for the 2005 Corporate Challenge.

According to the Saipan Chamber of Commerce, eight teams have already registered for the event, which would be held on Sunday, Oct. 2, at Micro Beach at American Memorial Park. Cost of registration is $300 per team and deadline for registration is Friday, Sept. 16.

Don’t have enough employees for a team? If you contact the Chamber office, we will match you up with other businesses looking to form a team.

As you know if you’ve attended a past Corporate Challenge, it’s a fun day that brings together your staff and their families for a day at the beach. It’s a great way to help build morale and team spirit.
