Hofschneider graduates from USCG training
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Seaman Apprentice Edwin V. Hofschneider Jr. completed his U.S. Coast Guard training on Sept. 2.
A proud son of Tinian, Hofschneider joins a long tradition of sons and daughters of the CNMI responding to the call of duty to serve and defend the United States.
Hofschneider completed basic training at the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center at Cape May, New Jersey and become a full-fledged member of one of the world’s finest seagoing services, the U.S. Coast Guard. Hofschneider was among the 200 Coast Guard graduating recruits who took their oath of allegiance on Sept. 2, 2005.
The graduation ceremony was attended by Hofschneider’s parents, Edwin M. and Vivian V. Hofschneider and aunt Esther H. Barr of Tinian. Consultant Ed Pangelinan also attended on behalf of Resident Representative Pete A. Tenorio.
“We have an obligation to show support and to honor every soldier, sailor and Coast Guard member from the CNMI who is making the transition to carry the heavy duty and burden of our nation’s security and protection. I wish Edwin the best and Godspeed in his service to our country,” Tenorio said.
Hofschneider’s next duty assignment is with the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Javis in Honolulu, Hawaii. (PR)
