Russian and Japanese ballet soloists in December recital
Glushko’s Academy of Performing Arts has started a new season that promises to be full of many exciting events. The main event is the upcoming traditional Christmas performance, which features the participation of professional ballet performers from off island.
This December, Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake will be staged in the Nikko Hotel’s Theatre Hall. The performance will consist of two acts. Act One will include a short version of Swan Lake adapted for Glushko Academy’s students by Anna Glushko. For Act Two, Saipan will be graced again by performances of Russian ballet artists Ms. Telius and Mr. Kurynov, as well as soloists from one of the famous Takagi Ballet Schools of Tokyo.
Glushko’s Academy and Takagi Ballet School have established a partnership, which started in July this year during a visit from the owner and director, Mrs.Takagi. The special invitation to the ballet soloists from this school is the first part of a long-term student exchange program.
The performances will be conducted on Dec. 9 and 10 and preparations for this event have already started. The students of Glushko’s Academy have begun to learn the new steps of movements creating a magical story in a royal palace with enchanted swans. Each of the group of students will perform their part of the ballet in specially designed costumes.
Glushko’s Academy is inviting everyone who wants to take part in the performance. Don’t waste another second– the practices have already begun.
Glushko’s Academy is also inviting everyone in the CNMI to see the world-ranked ballet masters perform on Saipan. To keep ticket prices affordable, Glushko’s Academy is requesting the support of local businesses and sponsors who are willing to help develop the arts and entertainment culture of the island.
