Public School System associate commissioner David M. Borja said schools affected by power and water problems in the aftermath of Typhoon Nabi last week have recovered—except for the Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School.

According to Borja, GTC, the roofs of which were blown off by the typhoon’s strong winds last week, sustained only minimal damage and its current problems are now only confined to water leaks. He also said the school is currently using makeshift classrooms.

There were three schools that were shut down last Friday because of damage incurred from Typhoon Nabi’s punishing winds and rain: Koblerville Elementary School, Marianas High School, and Saipan Southern High School.

The three schools were left without power because of the heavy downpour and were not able to operate their water supply.

KES principal Eric Evangelista appealed last week to the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. and was successful in getting power back on Thursday. Borja said CUC was able to return power to MHS and SSHS last Friday.
