2005 EcoArts winning band Mix Plate at GIG tonight

Mix Plate, the winning band in the first ever 2005 EcoArts Festival Battle of the Band Competition, will be at the premier discotheque G.I.G. tonight for a one-night show.

G.I.G. Discotheque manager Frederick Santos said the EcoArts champ will treat the discotheque’s patrons to reggae and Hawaiian music that will surely draw music lovers to the dance floor.

“The event is line with the club’s aim of providing quality entertainment to the island’s nightlife denizens,” Santos said.

Mix Plate won $3,000 during the 2005 EcoArts Festival, the largest prize in the festival.

Resident DJ Dr. Love said the night promises top rated music as the band belts out reggae hits of renowned artists like Bob Marley, UB40, Maxi Priest and Island favorites such as the music of Kapena, Ho’aikane, Ka’au Crater Boys, Ten Feet, Mana’o Company and many more. Dr. Love will alternate with the band in providing live wire music for partygoers.

Maria Frica Pangelinan, Tun Kiku’s Market, Atom’s Company Ltd. and Toninos co-present the event tonight. The door opens at 8:30pm tonight.
