PSS commends WIA for cleanup drive
The Public School System expressed its gratitude to the Workforce Investment Agency for its assistance during yesterday’s cleanup of school campuses.
PSS associate commissioner David M. Borja said he is very thankful to WIA, especially to its director, Jesse Stein, for their volunteer work and for providing the manpower to clean up the schools affected by Typhoon Nabi last week.
Borja said WIA sent 15 to 30 team members to clean up the campuses yesterday.
Borja said the agency started with the William S. Reyes Elementary School and then proceeded to clean up Garapan Elementary School and San Vicente Elementary School. He said the PSS CIP committee coordinated the event with WIA. The cleanup will continue today and will hopefully end this week.
WIA provided dump trucks, backhoes, chainsaws and rakes to the schools for the cleanup brigade.
“This has been a great assistance from the agency since PSS doesn’t have much manpower for a quick cleanup,” Borja said.
He said the project is a “win-win” situation for both the community and PSS. In this setup those who didn’t have work were hired for the project that benefited the schools affected by the typhoon.
