UPCOMING MHS ACTIVITIES

To all parents and legal guardians of Marianas High School students:

* As a result of school days missed due to Typhoon Nabi, make-up days are as follows: Nov. 1, Dec. 22 and 23 (There will be classes on these days).

* Mid-Progress Reports will be distributed to students on Monday, Sept. 12.

* Open House/Report Card Distribution will be on Wednesday, Oct. 19 (4-6pm).

* Community Council Meeting (also known as PTA) to be held on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 6pm, in the school cafeteria.

OES PTSA MEETING SET

The Parents Teachers Students Association officers of Oleai Elementary School would like to inform parents and guardians that the PTSA meeting will be on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, 6pm, in the school’s cafeteria. Everyone is encouraged to attend.

FREE HEALTH SCREENING SET

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration is reminding the Filipino community of the Free Health Screening scheduled on Sept. 11, 2005 from 9am to 12 noon at the ground floor of the Nauru building, Susupe. Individuals who would like their blood sugar to be tested should fast (no food or water) from midnight of Sept. 10 up to the time of their check up.

GARAPAN WATER OUTAGES THIS WEEK

There will be water outages today, Sept. 10, in the Garapan district as the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. conducts leak detection and watermain pressure. CUC said the water outages are necessary as new water services are brought online and tested first. Today’s water outage will be from 5:45am to 7am, affecting areas from Orchid Street to Rosa Street.

COMMERCIAL PESTICIDE APPLICATOR WORKSHOP

There will be a five-day Category V pesticide workshop on Sept. 19-23, from 9am to 3pm at the Sui Lan Private Room of the Hyatt Regency Saipan. The workshop will cost $20 per person.

The workshop is primarily intended for commercial pest control applicators using restricted-use pesticides for hire. It will focus on structural buildings and pest such as termites, roaches, ants and rodents. Individuals who wish to provide pesticide services for hire to farmers must also pass this course.

The workshop will focus on principles of Pest Control, Insect Biology, Environment Concerns, Transportation, Loading, and Handling, Pesticide Label, Federal laws and CNMI Rules and Regulations of pesticides.

Participants must attend the complete training course and pass the examination in order to purchase and use restricted use pesticides for hire.

This workshop is sponsored by the CNMI Division of Environmental Quality and the Northern Marianas College, Cooperative Research, Extension & Education Service.
