Tenorio accepting academy applications
Washington Representative Pete A. Tenorio is inviting young men and women interested in seeking nomination to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs to apply no later than Dec. 15, 2006 for the class entering in June 2006.
An applicant must be a U.S. citizen, at least 17 years old and no older than 23 as of July 1 of the year of admission, unmarried and have no legal obligations to support children or other dependents.
Interested students must take either the SAT or ACT by December 2005. Their scores should be reported to both the Air Force Academy and the Office of the Resident Representative.
Tenorio’s nomination is based on the scores achieved on the SAT or ACT, class rank, grade point average, school records, extracurricular activities, leadership potential, motivation and recommendations. SATs and ACTs can and can be taken more than once and the highest scores will be used.
Initial letters from residents requesting to be considered as applicants for nominations must be postmarked no later than Dec. 15, 2006. The deadline for receipt of all necessary support information is Jan. 15, 2006. It is the applicant’s responsibility to submit all the required information and to keep it updated. Tenorio utilizes the competitive method of nomination in seeking qualified candidates.
