Laughing in the rain

The rain poured but who cared? The drinks were flowing, the food was mouth-watering, and the laughter abounded like there was no tomorrow. If there is anything that absolutely embodied the admonition to “Eat, drink, and be merry…yada-yada-yada,” it was Saturday night’s Comedy Club 200 of the American Red Cross-NMI Chapter, with people packed nine-deep under dripping tents to see the antics of Hawaii’s favorite entertainer, Frank De Lima.

More than 1,600 people jostled and elbowed themselves inside the Hyatt Regency Saipan’s grounds for a night of fun that refused to be cowed by the grim weather that lasted all night long. And no one could be happier than those who grabbed the major prizes of the night, including $25,000 in cash and two brand-new cars. If all parties were like Saturday night’s, then we’d have parties all the time. Congratulations to the American Red Cross-NMI Chapter for a job well done!
