CHACHA THANKS WIA FOR CLEANUP

Chacha Oceanview Junior High School recently extended its heartfelt thank you to the Workers Investment Agency following its cleanup effort in the campus.

“On behalf of our students, parents, teachers, staff and the administration of we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you, si yu’us ma’ase’ and oloomway to Mr. Jeff Stein and the hardworking employees of WIA,” said Chacha’s Vince Dela Cruz and Walt Taitinfong.

Dela Cruz and Taitinfong said for three days last week an 18-man crew from WIA came Chacha to help clean its compound and perimeter.

“As we understood it, these gentlemen helped beautify seven other schools prior to ours. We are sure they did a superb job on their campuses as well. Keep up the good work,” the two added.

NAVY TO CONDUCT BOMB-THREAT DRILLS AT DOD SCHOOLS

The Navy will conduct bomb-threat drills at Guam High School today, Sept. 22, from 1pm to 2pm, and tomorrow, Sept. 23, at Commander William C. McCool Elementary/Middle School, from 1pm to 2:30pm.

During the exercises, students and faculty will be evacuated from the buildings, while Navy personnel inspect the facilities. Several emergency vehicles will be utilized.

The public should not be alarmed by the sirens and presence of military personnel at the schools and surrounding areas.

The drills are part of the Navy’s Annual Regional Force Protection Exercise. For more information, contact the U.S. Naval Forces Marianas Public Affairs Office at (671) 339-2115.

S&NISWCD MEETING ON OCT. 4

The Saipan and Northern Islands Soil and Water Conservation District would like to inform the general public of their monthly meeting next Tuesday, Oct. 4, 1:30pm at the Natural Resources Conservation Service Office.

SSHS MEETING ON SEPT. 29

The Saipan Southern High School would be holding a Parent-Teachers Association meeting next Thursday, Sept. 29, 6:30pm at the school’s cafeteria. Parents and legal guardians of students currently enrolled at SSHS are requested to attend the PTA meeting.

WSR EVENT IN SEPTEMBER

The William S. Reyes Elementary School has released a list of the school’s major events for the month of September. They are the following:

Sept. 24 Parent Forum, 8am-12pm
Sept. 26 WSR Stucco Election
Sept. 28 August/September PeaceBuilder Diner’s Club

UPCOMING MHS ACTIVITIES

To all parents and legal guardians of Marianas High School students:

• As a result of school days missed due to Typhoon Nabi, make-up days are as follows: Nov. 1, Dec. 22 and 23 (There will be classes on these days).
• Open House/Report Card Distribution will be on Wednesday, Oct. 19 (4-6pm).
• Community Council Meeting (also known as PTA) will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 6pm, in the school cafeteria.
