The final results of the Youth Congress election held Monday is now out, with eight of the nine incumbents retaining their seats for another term.

House Floor Leader Oscar M. Babauta verified and signed the official election results of the 8th CNMI Youth Congress yesterday afternoon at the Legislature.

Babauta said the recently concluded election was fair and impartial

He also commended the staff for a wonderful job and said he is proud of the dedication shown by Youth Congress staff led by adviser Alice Leon Guerrero. He said Guerrero never fails to guide the youth, as she is always present during sessions to assist the youth leaders.

Guerrero said the incumbents who won in the election must continue with pending projects for the benefit of the youth. She said the 15 new ones would enjoy the Youth Congress as she expects to have lots of fun during the sessions. She said the focus of the Youth Congress would always remain the same: the 3 E’s of education, employment and economy.

Babauta said he encourages the entire CNMI youth to participate in future elections because it is the intention of the Youth Congress to identify and help the youth with issues that concern them, such as smoking, drinking, and drugs,.

Guerrero denied the report (not the Saipan Tribune) published last Wednesday that they had problems with the ballots from Rota and Tinian, which allegedly resulted in the delay in releasing the results.
