POKER EXEC CHARGED WITH OPERATING UNLICENSED MACHINES

A 25-year-old business executive is facing criminal charges for operating unlicensed poker machines in the Saipan poker establishment she was managing.

The Attorney General’s Office charged Wei Wei, manager of the No. 1 Poker in San Roque, with two counts of operating an unlicensed poker machine.

CNMI chief prosecutor Jeffrey Moots said the establishment operated at least two unlicensed poker machines on about Aug. 17, 2005.

The Superior Court has summoned Wei to appear before it on Nov. 7, in connection with the criminal charges. (John Ravelo)

MAN CHARGED WITH THEFT

The Attorney General’s Office yesterday filed with the Superior Court a charge of theft against a Tinian resident.

The AGO identified the defendant as 41-year-old Atruro I. Montecillo, Jr.

CNMI chief prosecutor Jeffrey Moots accused Montecillo of stealing some $200 in cash from E C Payday Company on Tinian last Sept. 16.

The court yesterday summoned Montecillo to appear before the Tinian courtroom on Nov. 11 in connection with the case. (John Ravelo)
