The Chalan Kanoa Saints and Garapan Rollers II put up successful charges as action in the 2005 Saipan Rotary Club Youth Basketball League continued Tuesday evening at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

The Saints used their experience and size advantage to outclass the young G-Rollers III squad, 95-44.

C.K. controlled the game from beginning to end, getting a strong opening push from league second-leading scorer Luis Reyes and former Mako Jose Magday, who pumped in nine and eight points, respectively, to take a commanding 20-point lead at the break, 40-20.

Reyes and company continued to fire at will and the points piled up quickly, ensuring a safe road to claiming another victory.

Reyes went nuts for 18 points in the second half, Jason Lizama scored all of his eight points, and the Saints lit up the scoreboard for 55 points to close with win No. 7.

Reyes finished with a game-high 27 points, while Sato Manalo supported him with 12 points. J.P. Kim and Rick San Nicolas also chipped in 10 points apiece.

Josh Moses led G-III with 13 points.

The G-Rollers family still left with their heads up after G-II strolled to a 90-67 victory over Bwibwiis earlier in the evening.

Like the Saints, the G-II crew had their way and controlled action in the first half. Dan Mateo brought out his canon and drilled three bombs from long range to lead his team to a 52-33 advantage at halftime. Mateo scored all of his 15 points in the process, while Don Camacho and Nate Mateo worked their magic for 12 and eight points.

Helping Bwibwiis from falling too far back was Darrel Moteisou, who tormented the defense for 11 points.

The second half was pretty even as Bwibwiis picked up their intensity and almost matched G-II’s effort. Mario Lisua took the initiative and shouldered his team’s offensive push with 16 points in the half, including scoring 12 of the team’s 14 points midway through.

G-II, however, still padded their lead and had no trouble closing with the 23-point victory margin.

Camacho led G-II with a game-high 25 points, while the Mateo brothers supported him with 15 points apiece.

Lisua paced the Bwibwiis with 22 points, while Moteisou and D.J. Somol contributed 15 and 10 points.
