Matthew Camacho graduates from Fort Benning
Pvt. Matthew Loriky Cabrera Camacho, a proud son of the CNMI, successfully completed basic combat training with the U.S. Army Infantry School, Basic Combat Training Brigade at Fort Benning, Georgia last week.
Camacho finished nine weeks of extremely rigorous and demanding basic combat training and completed the transition from civilian to soldier. He is highly motivated, disciplined, physically fit, mentally tough, and trained in fundamental combat skills.
Camacho is the son of former Rep. Rosiky and Winnie Camacho of As Lito, Saipan. He is the second son of this proud family to serve the nation. His older brother, Billy, is currently deployed in Iraq with the CNMI reservists.
The graduation ceremony was attended by Camacho’s mom, Winnie, brother, Patrick, and Ed Pangelinan, who attended on behalf of Resident Rep. Pete A. Tenorio.
“We have an obligation to show support and to honor every soldier, sailor, airman, Marine and Coast Guard member from the CNMI who is willing to carry the heavy duty and burden of our nation’s security and protection. I wish Matt the best and Godspeed in his service to our country,” said Tenorio.
Camacho’s next duty assignment is at Fort Gordon, Georgia where he will receive advanced training and serve with the Signal Corps. (PR)
