Dandan Elementary School would like to extend its sincerest appreciation to the Office of the Aging, its director Joseph Palacios, and his staff for providing the school with man’amko presenters for its activities in celebration of Cultural Heritage Month.

The elderly of the island served as presenters during DES’ educational demonstrations for creating cultural arts and crafts held last Sept. 21-23 at the school.

The man’amko displayed and shared their knowledge, skills, and expertise to the DES students in the areas of mwarmwar-making, beadmaking, weaving, and story telling.

The students were very ecstatic to have worked hand in hand with the man’amko as they shared their unique cultural values to groups of young children ranging from grades 1 through 6.

“It was a great treat even for the teachers and parents. We look forward to continuing such partnership in order to pass on the fading culture as well as help strengthen it for generations to come,” said organizers.

The school also praised the Workforce Investment Agency and the individuals who helped out in their beautification efforts that took place on Sept. 19-20, 2005.

“Thank you for your utmost commitment and enthusiasm in providing manpower to help make our school yard safe, conducive, and inviting for our children to play and enjoy. Your hard labor is very evident and the entire teachers, staff, parents, and students are very pleased for the services that you’ve provided to the school. To Mr. Jesse Stein, National Emergency Grant Officer, for his innovative leadership. To Mr. Mark Flores & Mr. Nick Deleon Guerrero, both O.I.C., for your great coordination and assertive leadership, and Mr. Perry P. Kintol of NEG, thank you for all that you do for our CNMI children and the school at large,” said DES principal Jonas M. Barcinas. (PR)
