My husband and I attended the anniversary celebrations on Tinian Island in August. Our host, Phil Long, as well as the other members of his team, were most gracious, helpful, and informative during our 10-day stay. There was no evidence of any hostility and/or animosity among any of the attendees and participants. Everyone seemed to be of one accord, the bombs and their aftermath were both spiritually and physically devastating, but necessary to end the war and the killing. Tinian islanders, and well as the rest of the Northern Marianas, should be proud of Phil and his crew—they did a magnificent job.

On a personal note, my husband became ill while we were there, and Phil and his wife, Arly, got him to a doctor and made sure he was well cared for. I am most grateful for their care and consideration of both of us during that time.
Again, our sincerest appreciation to Phil and all the Islanders—the native dancers were fabulous and we enjoyed a “once-in-a-lifetime” trip to your beautiful islands.
