Salem trenchers thank Lang, Ton

In time of our hardship and need, whereas most of us were students and/or were the only breadwinner in the family, we were overwhelmed by the compassion and kindness that former governor Froilan Cruz Tenorio and his running mate, Antonio Aguon Santos, had given to us.

We are a local softball team here in Salem, Oregon, and we have been playing for two years now without a formal uniform. Fortunately, as luck would have it for us, our story fell on the ears of two thoughtful gentlemen, Lang and Ton, and before we knew it, our uniforms arrived just in time for our last and most important event of the season.

As some of you may have heard, we hosted a two-day event—the 2005 CNMI Stateside Softball Tournament—which included teams from Washington, Idaho, Nevada, and Northern California. Families and friends traveled from afar for this event and it was a beautiful time for all us. I am certain that it was a memorable event for the 400 some people that attended, like it has been for the team, especially because we walked into that ball field with a dream that had just become a reality.

Lang and Ton, because of your good deed and heedfulness, the uniforms will continue to bring great pride and confidence to our team as we present ourselves in all our future games. We wish you luck in this gubernatorial election. On behalf of the Salem trenchers, un dangkulu na si yu’us ma’ase.
