Lagooners washing away Black Magic in HS Rocball
The Lagooners were on fire yesterday and are currently ahead by a mile against Black Magic with two sets remaining in regulation in the ongoing 2005 World Organized Rocball High School League at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.
The Lagooners busted out the whooping stick early and stunned Black Magic with a strong run in the first set. With everything going their way, the Lagooners blasted away and pounded the ball with a fury to shock all in attendance with a 15-1 victory.
The Black Magic wizards, who entered the bout in a four-way tie for second place with the Lagooners, Ochobu, and B-n-S, looked like a different team than the one the won two of its first three matches as they struggled to defend against the Lagooners’ explosion.
Black Magic, however, put up a better fight in the second half and gave the Lagooners a run for their money. While their magic was working perfectly, the team managed to grab the early lead, however, it was not able to hold on in the end and the Lagooners stormed back to stretch their lead with an impressive 15-12 victory.
With the win, the Lagooners head into today’s session ahead by a comfortable 17-point breathing room, 30-13.
Black Magic still has a shot at pulling off a come-from-behind stunner as the two teams still have the third and fourth sets to play. Even if Black Magic trails heading into the fourth set, the team still has a chance to force o-kon with a win. In Rocball, the team leading heading into the fourth set must win the set to end the game or juice out.
If o-kon is played, the team trailing heading into overtime must win two sets while the team leading only needs to win one set. O-kon sets are won by the team that scores 10 points first or scores a goal.
“Will the wizards bring their magic wands or will the fishermen use their nets today,” asked Rocball founder James Feger in anticipation of today’s continuation.
Black Magic, Lagooners, B-n-S, and Ochobu are currently a game behind defending champion Mwaliyas, which sits with a perfect 3-0 win-loss cards.
