A man charged for assaulting his wife that caused her to suffer two broken ribs and a laceration to her skull, has entered a guilty plea.

Glen Derrick Palacios pleaded guilty to two counts of assault and battery.

Superior Court Associate Judge Juan T. Lizama accepted Palacios’ plea and sentenced him to one year in jail, all suspended except the statutory mandatory minimum of 72 hours for both charges.

Lizama gave the defendant credit for the 72 hours that he already served in jail.

Lizama placed Palacios on one year of probation and required him to perform 80 hours of community work service, and write a letter of apology to his wife.

The judge directed the defendant to pay $1,000 fine, and $125 in probation fee and court costs. He also ordered him to undergo counseling evaluation at the Community Guidance Center.

The agreement stated that on July 6, 2005 on Saipan, the defendant kicked his wife in the stomach and pushed her, which resulted in her receiving broken ribs and a laceration to her skull.

Palacios was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and battery. He signed a plea agreement and pleaded guilty to the amended information charging him with two counts of assault and battery.
