Woman with bad checks pleads guilty
A woman accused of issuing bad checks to several stores on Saipan has entered a guilty plea.
Juanita B. Camacho pleaded guilty to three counts of issuance of bad checks in three cases.
Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman reluctantly accepted the plea and the plea agreement.
Following the agreement, Wiseman sentenced Camacho to three years, all suspended.
Wiseman placed the defendant on three years of supervised probation and required her to attend financial counseling and perform 200 hours of community work service.
Camacho was ordered to pay restitutions in the amount of $787, $170, and $93.95 to YCO Corp., U2 Collection, and PC Outlet respectively.
The defendant was also directed to pay $500 more in restitution plus $250 fine and $25 in court assessment fee.
Camacho was charged with one count each of issuance of bad checks in two cases and four counts of same charges in the third case.
The defendant signed a plea agreement with the government.
The factual basis of the agreement stated that on May 6, 2005 and Feb. 12, 2005, the defendant did unlawfully pass checks from Bank of Guam to U2 Collection and YCO in the amount of $125 and $108.41 respectively knowing that the checks would not be honored because the account was closed.
Camacho also did unlawfully pass check on Dec. 24, 2004 from Bank Pacific in the amount of $248.95 to PC Outlet.
