Liaocheng Acrobatics Troupe to wow Saipan

Liaocheng, a city known for its history, culture and the as home of Chinese acrobatics, has brought its famed acrobats to Saipan.

The Liaocheng Acrobatics Troupe of China is now on the island to prepare for its grand showcase of jaw-dropping stunts this coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The group, composed of 27 highly skilled young members, arrived on Saipan yesterday at 2am in the morning.

Northern Marianas College Foundation is bringing once again a spectacular show that would definitely bring joy and entertainment to the CNMI community this holiday season.

NMC Foundation president Jerry Tan said the event is a fundraising activity of the organization with net proceeds from the show going to NMC.

The event is the third fundraising activity of the foundation in 2005. The foundation first held a golf tournament early this year and a major concert that featured the Philippine’s “Concert King” Martin Nievera in July.

Lynn Knight, who is on the event coordination committee, said the foundation is hoping to attract at a total of 3,500 guests for the three-day shows. Shows will be held on December 2, 3 and 4 at the Marianas High School Gymnasium. Shows on Friday and Saturday will start at 7pm and on Sunday the event will have a matinee show starting at 4pm. Doors will open at 6pm for the evening shows and at 3pm for the matinee shows.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children age 12 years and below. Children age three years old and under are free of charge. To ensure availability of tickets, the organizers are suggesting for interested parties purchase their tickers early. Tickets are sold at all Joeten Stores and Shirley’s Coffee Shops. Tickets are also sold at the Saipan Tribune.

Food will not be allowed inside the gymnasium but will be allowed outside the venue. Cameras with flash will also not be allowed.

The Liaocheng Acrobatics Troupe of China was established in 1955 and has grown through generations. The acrobatics has improved to a high level that led them to perform during special events and holidays in Beijing, China. The group, up to this date, continues to upgrade and prosper the acrobatic art vigorously developing Liaocheng City as the home of acrobatics promoting international cultural exchange.

The acrobatics troupe is renowned for its trademark death-defying acts and stunts such as the “Love of dish-flowers,” skills among four, circle running, “Blue silk in the dream,” “Light of gentle and charming,” pose of chairs, flying skills, leap of climbing pole, and many more.
