Bud Cup playoffs schedule changes
The playoffs schedule for the ongoing 2005 Budweiser Cup BANMI Men’s Island-wide Basketball League has been changed, according to BANMI.
BANMI vice president Elias Rangamar disclosed Monday evening that instead of playing first round games, the top two seeds will get a bye and will see action in the second round.
With the decision by BANMI, No. 3 MARPAC-Nissan Titans will now battle No. 6 Bacardi-Golden Oldies this evening at 7pm, while No. 4 O’Douls-Ol’Aces will face No. 5 Michelob-Master Construction Torque at 8:30pm.
The winner of the Titans-Golden Oldies bout will head to the semifinals to face No. 2 Bud Ice-SaipanCell Hoopaholics, while the winner of the Ol’Aces-Torque bout will meet two-time defending and 2005 pennant champion Bud Light-Toyota Tundra in the other semifinal bout. The semifinals will be held on Friday.
The previous schedule issued by BANMI had Toyota facing Bacardi and Bud Ice battling Michelob yesterday, and MARPAC and O’Douls going head to head tomorrow night. It indicated that the winners of the Bud Ice-Michelob bout and the O’Douls-MARPAC match will face off for a championship game ticket. The winner of the Bud Light-Bacardi bout would’ve had a one-way ticket to the finals.
