With or without their captain present, the Hot Myx continued to show why they are the hottest team in the 7th Annual Miller Lite Coed Four-Person Beach Volleyball League as they made quick work of the Sugoi Seven Thursday night at the Pacific Islands Club.

The Myx overwhelmed the outgunned Seven with a mixture of communication, precision passing, and powerful spikes to cruise to a combined three-set sweep, 33-5. They also maintained their lead over the 15-team pack with an 11-1 record, while the Seven maintained their last place lead at 1-12.

Palaksi kept pace with the Myx by handing Pugua Time! a 33-7 beat down, but the players weren’t the only ones subjected to the punishment as some tourists were recruited to play for Pugua as well.

Evan Hunsberger made some diving plays and gave his all while Marino Pungilug showed off some of the skills that powered Proa in the indoor leagues, but the duo succumbed to Palaksi without their full compliment of players.

The only school team in competition also lost out upon the San Antonio sand as Grace Christian Academy was pounded by Puff, Puff, Pass in the first two sets, 11-6 and 11-3, before rebounding to stop the sweep with an 11-7 win in the third.

The Eagles are tied with the Saipan International School Eagles at 1-10 on the season and need to win at least one more game to stay ahead of the Seven. Puff, Puff, Pass improved to 7-5 and looks like a probable for the playoffs if they can win one more game.

If they can’t, Aschaabw will be there to slip into the postseason as they defeated Namete to climb into ninth place in the playoff race.

The Namete netters were unable to overcome the rust on their games as the frequent forfeiters dropped all three sets, 11-0, 11-8, and 11-5 to fall out of playoff contention at 4-8.

You’re My Boy Blue! suffered a similar fate on Thursday as the spirited squad suffered a one-sided 33-13 defeat to Galuti. The match was more like a volleyball fun session as the teams changed the competition to an exhibition as the Blue fell to 4-8 while Galuti improved to 8-3.
