QC program to be discussed in Chamber meeting

The Saipan Chamber of Commerce will hold December’s General Membership Meeting on tomorrow, Dec. 7, at SandCastle in the Hyatt Regency’s Saipan.

The meeting’s discussion topic will be the Qualifying Certificate Program. Presenters will provide information about the program and its track record.

“Come and learn more about this important economic incentive, and give your viewpoints about how it can best help the CNMI economy,” Chamber executive director Christine Parke.

Cost of lunch is $15. Registration and buffet starts at 11:30am; the meeting begins at noon. The public is also invited to attend the meeting.

Barwars II at GIG on Dec. 14

Saipan’s top-seeded “mixologists: will put their craft to the test when the competition dubbed “Barwars II” kicks off at GIG Discoteque this coming Dec. 14.

Expected to defend his title is Dai-ichi Hotel Saipan Beach’s Rey Macalintal, who bested the rest during Barwars I. With flair bartending now getting attention, more contestants will display their technical skills and artistic ability. Expect plenty of maneuvers such as flipping, twisting, twirling, throwing and catching of bottles using hand-and-eye coordination while mixing cocktails.

Up for grabs are cash prizes and gift certificates for the top three winners. Each contestant will be given an exclusive Barwars T-shirt. For more details, call 234-5050 during office hours and look for the GIG manager Fred Santos or 234-3131 at night and ask for Emy Romero.

Sunday is ballroom night at GIG

Want to work up a sweat? How about joining Saipan’s ballroom enthusiasts dance the night away every Sunday night at GIG?

Angel International School of Dance collaborates with Saipan’s Premier Dance Club in coming up with this event starting at 9pm.

If ballroom dancing is your thing, GIG is the place to be every Sunday night. Belting out your favorites mixes are DJs Virgin Keith and DJ DK. The repertoire includes foxtrot, reggae, swing, salsa, rhumba, boogie, tango, samba and waltz. For beginners, professional dance instructors will teach you the ABC in ballroom dancing.
