Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Ben Benson
Ben Benson, at 16 years of age, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, and a Court of Honor will be held for him on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 7pm. Benson is the son of Karen and Del Benson and he has been in Boy Scouts for five years.
To earn the rank of Eagle, a Scout is required to attend campouts, earn merit badges, and demonstrate specific skills that are physically and mentally challenging. When asked what was his most difficult, challenging and rewarding project, Benson responded that it was his Eagle Scout Project, which required much planning.
Benson’s Eagle Project involved gathering donations of cash and merchandize from local companies and with the assistance of his fellow Scouts and the young women’s group of his church, assembling “welcome new baby” packets that could be distributed by the Commonwealth Health Center to the parents of babies born at that facility. The packets included clothing, blankets, and other items needed by families of a newborn. Benson was able to assemble and donate 50 packets.
The activity Benson considered the most fun during his years in Scouts were the long hikes that he went on. After earning his Eagle, Benson will continue to be an active Scout in Troop 913, and support and assist others in their quest for the rank of Eagle.
The public is invited to attend Benson’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor, which will be held at the Cultural hall at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (near McDonald’s) on Middle Road.
Once an Eagle, always an Eagle, and all those who are Eagle Scouts are invited to take their place at the “Eagle’s Nest.” The local Boy Scouts chapter is inviting the public to join them for the Eagle Scout Court of Honor being held for Ben Benson. (PR)
