Tenorio quits as Labor secretary
Department of Labor Secretary Dr. Joaquin A. Tenorio has resigned from his post, the Saipan Tribune learned yesterday.
A number of Labor officials confirmed that Tenorio already submitted his letter to Gov. Juan N. Babauta and to the Office of Personnel Management to give way to the incoming Fitial administration.
The effective date of Tenorio’s resignation is when the Fitial government comes in by January, a Labor official said who requested anonymity.
The Saipan Tribune went to the secretary’s office yesterday morning to get comment, but his staff said he was in a meeting. He did not return Saipan Tribune’s calls.
Tenorio replaced Mark Zachares as Labor secretary when the Babauta administration stepped in.
Transition committee chairman Martin Manglona earlier called for the appointed officials holding key positions in the government to “resign now.”
Manglona said the Babauta appointees should be courteous enough to give way to the incoming administration.
