DFW recognizes retiring employee
The Division of Fish and Wildlife recognized retiring fishery technician Inocencio “Larry” Ilo in simple rites last week at the agency’s office in Puerto Rico.
Ilo, who is known as Larry to his friends and family, has worked for DFW the past 17 years having begun his employment at the agency in 1987.
He was responsible for various data collection and data compilation projects and been responsible for the implementation of the federally funded CNMI Turtle Stock Nesting and Monitoring Project the past four years.
“Larry’s presence will be sorely missed at the division,” said DFW director Paul C. Hamilton, adding that Ilo is a man of many talents, which the division has benefited from. Department of Lands and Natural Resources Secretary, Richard B. Seman recalled that Ilo had been very instrumental since the beginning of the division.
“We’ve worked together to bring CNMI marine resources issues to the national forefront, and his commitment to his projects directly resulted in the DFW receiving increased funding for its sea turtle monitoring project,” said Seman.
DFW staff and management recently threw a “DFW style” retirement party for Ilo, where everyone paid tribute to his many contributions. Ilo made a brief speech thanking each of his co-workers for the experiences he has gained working with each of them, and to the division director for his unyielding support during his tenure.
He also extended a special thanksgiving message to the DLNR secretary, whom he shares a special friendship since he started under him in DFW’s data program. Ilo said he would still be available to assist the division in the future.
