Govt wants Filipino student deported
The CNMI government has moved for the deportation of a Filipino student who allegedly overstayed on Saipan for over three years and eight months.
Assistant attorney general Ian Catlett said the Filipino teenager entered as tourist and has been overstaying on the islands since March 2002.
Catlett stated in court papers that the student arrived on the island on a short-term tourist status on Aug. 3, 2001, which expired after one month.
Immigration investigator John Peter also said the teenager was issued a long-term tourist entry permit on Feb. 21, 2002, which expired on March 30, 2002.
Peter said the student did not submit any application to renew his tourist status.
Immigration did not specify the student’s school.
The Superior Court has ordered the student to appear in court and answer why he should not be deported form the CNMI.
