OPM’s Tenorio retires
Personnel director Juan I. Tenorio has vacated his post Friday.
Tenorio, who was appointed to head the Office of Personnel Management when Gov. Juan N. Babauta took office in 2002, retired effective Dec. 23, 2005.
Babauta has designated Joseph Pangelinan as acting director of Personnel until a permanent director has been named. Pangelinan is currently the chief of OPM’s Employee/Employer Division.
“Please extend your full cooperation and assistance to Mr. Pangelinan as he assumes this additional responsibility,” Babauta told all department and activity heads in a memorandum.
Tenorio joins a number of Babauta’s appointees who have resigned or retired following the Republican governor’s failed bid for re-election.
Other officials of the Babauta administration who have quit or expressed intent to quit their posts include Public Works Secretary and Republican Party chair John Reyes, governor’s senior policy advisor Robert Schwalbach, press secretary Pete Callaghan, Finance Secretary Fermin Atalig, Labor Secretary Joaquin Tenorio, Community and Cultural Affairs Secretary Juan L. Babauta, Commonwealth Utilities Corp. executive director Lorraine Babauta and deputy director Bernard Villagomez.
