Three environmental agency officers were recently recognized for their efforts in helping Hotel Nikko Saipan spread environmental awareness within the community.

Hotel Nikko cited Coastal Resources Management officers John Dax Moreno, Laura Williams and Qamar Schuyler for their cooperation and collaboration during the hotel’s recently concluded 2nd Annual Recycled Christmas Decoration competition.

Hotel Nikko general manager Yutaka Fujita, together with the hotel’s administration officer, Ray Dela Cruz, and executive housekeeping officer Earl P. Gonzales, handed over the plaques of appreciation to the CRMO officers.

Dela Cruz said the hotel was extending their own appreciation to the officers for judging this year’s recycling contest among the hotel’s employees.

“These officers should be acknowledged for their dedication to environmental awareness,” he added.

Moreno said he has always been grateful to the hotel for being a “shining example” in taking care of the environment. He said the islands’ environmental agencies hope to see other businesses to do the same in promoting environmental awareness.

“What the Hotel Nikko Saipan employees did was fantastic,” Moreno added, pointing that the exhibit of the final artworks from re-used and recycled materials should have been brought out of the hotel so that the whole community could have seen it.

“The public needs to see this,” he said, adding that what the hotel has been doing is a wonderful example for the entire business sector and the community to follow.

This year’s contest’s theme was “Tree of Hope.” The hotel follows the three Rs of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
