Free WWII lecture, book signing at Memorial Park
The public is invited to attend a lecture by historian and author Bruce M. Petty, to be held at American Memorial Park Visitors Center auditorium from 5pm to 6pm on Jan. 12, Thursday.
Petty focuses his research on personal experiences of Pacific Islanders and veterans who lived through World War II in the Pacific. His lecture, entitled “Stories of Humanity in War,” is a 50-minute PowerPoint lecture with a question-and-answer session afterward. The lecture will be followed immediately by a book signing in the Visitors Center lobby.
Petty has authored three books, all of which are available in the bookstore. They are At War in the Pacific: Personal Accounts of World War II Navy and Marine Corps Officers, Saipan: Oral Histories of the Pacific War, and Voices of the Pacific War: Bluejackets Remember.
The lecture and book signing will be hosted by Arizona Memorial Museum Association, in cooperation with National Park Service.
Entrance to the American Memorial Park Visitors Center is free of charge. It is open on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and weekends, from 10am to 5pm. Thursdays have extended hours, from 10am to 8pm. It is closed on Monday. (PR)
