Online MBA program now available through NMC
Online Master in Business Administration courses kicked off yesterday afternoon at the Northern Marianas College, facilitated by a number of University of Hawaii officials.
University of Hawaii Pacific Business Center Program director Failautusi Avegalio is currently on the island to witness the start of the classes.
The program, said Avegalio, is an online education program being conducted in real time from the home base in Hawaii.
Avegalio said the online classes include students from Manoa, Kauai, Big Island, and the CNMI. The classes are taught through the Internet technology, with an interactive TV in the class.
The program director said this is the first time that the University of Hawaii included students from outside the state. He said this is part of their plan to expand to the Pacific. Saipan is the first in the Pacific to be part of the program.
He said the classes include a PowerPoint presentation on a big screen, with professors on the other line conducting the classes. “Classes are done simultaneously,” he said.
NMC co-founder Agnes McPhetres said the program is also a first for NMC. She said there are other programs that the college has tied up with other universities but this is the first for an online MBA program from the Hawaii University.
McPhetres said the program currently has 13 NMI students enrolled for the graduate program. Avegalio said University of Hawaii was impressed with the credentials of the students who are currently taking the classes.
The online MBA program is a three-year program. Graduates from the program will get a certificate directly from the University of Hawaii.
Avegalio is also on the island as University of Hawaii’s representative during the inaugural ceremony for the officials of the CNMI last Monday at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.
