The alleged girlfriend of a man who was arrested by members of the Department of Public Safety’s elite Tactical Response Enforcement Team during a burglary at Mid Pac Micronesia Building in Gualo Rai on Dec. 30 was later arrested for alleged conspiracy.

Court records show that a police detective served an arrest warrant on 29-year-old Sharee D. Maratita on Jan. 4.

Maratita is the daughter of Marianas Public Lands Authority board chairwoman Ana Demapan-Castro.

Maratita’s alleged boyfriend, John Richard P. Guerrero, is the son of Commonwealth Utilities Corp. board chair Frank Guerrero, the Saipan Tribune learned yesterday.

During the Jan. 5 hearing, Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman released Maratita on a $50,000 unsecured bond.

Ana-Demapan Castro, her husband Jesus Castro, and sister Marian D. Calvo, served as third party custodians for the defendant.

Attorney Edward Arriola served as counsel for Maratita.

Arraignment was set for Jan. 23.

As of press time yesterday, no criminal information had been filed against Maratita.

Court papers alleged that police officers found Maratita inside Guerrero’s getaway car that was parked near the crime scene.

The car, a 2005 Nissan Maxima with license plate ADJ-542, was impounded. Investigators found inside the car a large bolt cutter, a crowbar, a knife, drug paraphernalia and other tools.

Eleven members of the TRET team led by Police Officer Eric David surrounded the Mid Pac Micronesia Building on Dec. 30 between 3am to 4am upon receiving information that a burglar was inside the building.

Initial investigation showed that the suspect broke into Mid Pac building, causing a security alarm to sound off.

A member of TRET team who resides near the area approached the building to check the place. When the TRET member learned that the suspect was still holed up inside the building, he called the other members of the team. The team then arrested the suspect, identified as Guerrero, who initially struggled with the officers, police said.

The following day, 29-year-old Guerrero was taken to court for a bail hearing on charges of burglary and theft, criminal mischief, and illegal possession of a controlled substance.

The court imposed a $100,000 cash bail for Guerrero’s temporary release.

A police report filed in the case against Guerrero did not mention Maratita.
