This year’s recipients of Pacific Development Inc.’s Educational Tax Credit include several private and public schools and even a government agency.

The tour company divided $5,000 worth of ETCs to Grace Christian Academy, Saipan International School, Saipan Southern High School, Marianas High School, Kagman High School and Garapan Elementary School, Northern Marianas College, and the CNMI Council for the Humanities.

School principals and vice principals joined PDI officers Tuesday mid-noon at Hafadai Hotel’s Hana’s Restaurant for the turnover ceremony, where they all shared a Japanese meal.

PDI vice president Jesus T. Guerrero personally thanked the school administrators and government officials for taking time off to join them for lunch despite their hectic schedule.

General manager Yoichi Matsumura said the donation was just a small gesture from his company to shows thanks to schools and the council for supporting their cultural exchange programs last year.

Matsumura said students from Japan would not have had such rewarding experiences in the CNMI without the support of these schools and government agency. He expressed hope that other private business entities in the Commonwealth would follow the schools’ and council’s example in promoting the islands.

The PDI general manager also vouched for his company’s continued support for the CNMI’s education sector.

GES principal Yvonne Gomez, SSHS vice principal Craig H. Garrison, MHS principal Karen Borja, GCA principal Faith Dela Rosa, KHS principal Doreen Tudela, NMC president Tony V. Deleon Guerrero, and Council for the Humanities officer Scott Russell attended the event. Board of Education and Humanities Council director Herman T. Guerrero also graced the event.

PDI marketing manager Gordon Marciano said the company has been donating its ETC to schools since the law was amended. He said they decided to divide it this time among several schools because these schools helped them in making their activities happen in the CNMI.
