An argument with a man allegedly provoked a woman to jump from the car that she was on as it was traveling on Middle Road in Gualo Rai Wednesday morning.

The woman was injured, police said. They did not specify the nature of the woman’s injuries or if she was brought to the Commonwealth Health Center.

A witness told the Saipan Tribune that fortunately for the woman, she was not hit by other vehicles. There were at least three cars behind her.

The witness said the woman was arguing with a man in a white car that was traveling south at a speed of about 30 to 35 miles per hour near the intersection of CMS at 7am.

The woman was suddenly seen rolling on the inner side of the road near the grassy area.

“She was rolling twice or thrice on the road. Then she kneeled,” the witness said.

The driver sped off.

Maj. Edward Manalili confirmed the report. He said the woman had an argument with her husband or boyfriend in the car.

Manalili said that, based on the initial report, the man hit the woman on the face.

The woman then jumped from the car, said Manalili, who is the chief of the Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Investigation Bureau.

The major said the two had a previous record of domestic violence.

There was no arrest yet, Manalili said.
