Alleged overstaying guard nabbed at school
Immigration agents arrested an alleged overstaying security guard at Kagman Junior High School on Tuesday morning.
Buddhi Lal Dhimal, a Nepalese, was temporarily released on $1,000 unsecured bond.
Assistant attorney general Ian Catlett said Dhimal is deportable for failing to comply with the requirements or conditions of his work entry by over-staying in the CNMI without lawful documentation and authority.
Catlett said the respondent is employed without lawful documentation.
Immigration investigator John Peter stated in court papers that he arrested Dhimal in school after learning he was an over-staying alien worker.
Peter said Dhimal admitted he was illegally working as a security guard for Osman Gani, owner of the Lucky Security Service.
Peter said the respondent was issued a nonresident worker’s entry permit that expired on Aug. 19, 2005.
Dhimal does not have any pending labor case or any application for employment with Gani, the investigator said.
He said Dhimal explained that he started to work last month with Gani, who promised him that he would process his labor papers.
The court ordered the respondent to appear in court on Jan. 26 to explain why he should not be deported from the CNMI.
The worker has been in the CNMI since 1997. He used to work as a mason and kitchen helper, Labor records show.
