The Commonwealth Ports Authority will participate in a Federal Aviation Administration-sponsored workshop that will provide information on available federal grants to improve the Commonwealth’s airports.

CPA executive director Lee Cabrera said he and his accounting staff would attend the Airport Improvement Projects workshop in Pohnpei from Jan. 25 to 27. The FAA will shoulder the cost of the trip, according to Cabrera.

Cabrera said the workshop would focus on the FAA’s airport improvement program and the grant application process.

The CPA’s entitlement from the FAA amounts to approximately $5.4 million yearly. In past years, though, the CPA managed to obtain up to $16 million yearly in FAA funding to improve airport facilities and services. (John Ravelo)
